Jar O’ Fish
I also bought my first ever jar of pickled herring yesterday afternoon. It felt like some sort of milestone, as though I had passed through veils of mystery surrounding the holiest of holy horrible tastes which can only be appreciated after a long and arduous initiation, but of course that honor is reserved for salt licorice.
I also tested the hypothesis that akvavit tastes better after you’ve already had significant quantities of it. It’s not true. Did I forget to mention that I was a touch hungover this morning?
