That’s no Entity, That’s My Wife!

Okay, since when has the W3C validator choked on URLs with ampersands in them? I go to validate this page, and all of a sudden I get four errors complaining about unknown entities inside the href attribute… has it always done this?

I know what you mean, Yami. The validator also gags on the BlogBack comment script wherever it appears on my page. Now, is that really my fault? It’s not fair.
But we’ve got to ask ourselves: why’s it so important to have our pages validated anyway? Like that means something. Oh, I forgot – it entitles us to add that little W3C button to our page. It’s the blog equivalent of getting a little gold star on your book report.
Oh and by the way, the site definitely looks better with its new white background. Kudos!

Never underestimate the importance of little gold stars.
And poor Uncle Ole, nobody loves him but me… I have to say I’m quite partial to the black background myself. It’s one of the signs of an old, flickery monitor I suppose. O well.

I think of it as more of a “Hey, I’m following the standards, so if this doesn’t work for you, then that’s your problem.” A cop-out, in other words. But a fair one.
