i hovedet
Sure, my links have been coming from BoingBoing quite a lot recently, but lately the BoingBoing is not the sufficiently critical. This I have an axe in my head universal translator is not only unexciting derivative work, it’s missing several languages, and I suspect the Scandewegish is rather un-idiomatic.
Swedish: Ah, Herregud! Jag har en yxa i huvudet!
Norwegian: Herre Gud! Jeg har en ks i hodet!
Danish: Oh min gud! Der er en oekse i mit hoved.
O bestly beloved Danish audience, do tell me that “I have an axe in my head!” ends on the delightfully gurgly “hovedet”! Else I shall be sorely tempted to take up Nynorsk.
Yes, of course, it’s “Jeg har en kse i hovedet”. And “Oh my God” would have to be “h, gud”.
Oh, good - that restores my faith in humanity.
Nice Site!
Nice comment-spam! IP banning is such an inelegant solution.
Actually, ‘h gud, der sidder en kse i hovedet p mig’ may be the most idomatic expression. Then you can gurgle ’sidder’, too.
I’d call “sidder” more of a spit-choked gag, myself, but perhaps it’s a gurgle if you’re fluent.
I think I’ll inform the webmaster, then - un-gurgly last words are simply not acceptable.
Update: there’s a newer and more maintained version! And I feel like I’ve made a difference in the universe, hoorah!
