Although my dislike for Modest Mouse is not really rooted in a lack of either musicianship or talent; at least as far as I’m willing to listen and think about it, they seem to possess both in the usual (i.e., unevenly distributed but otherwise ample) quantity expected of any successful garage band. I just feel that if people are going to rebel against their kindergarten music teachers (differentiating between singing and talking is <em>fascist bullshit</em>, yo) they should have a really excellent bass line for support. Also outmoded!
