Suggestions for the Improvement of Hipster Music

Modest Mouse reminds me of the Pixies, but without any of the goodness that flows from Kim Deal. Maybe they could build a robot Kim Deal! Or call in a guy with a bass saxophone! Or Zombie Billie Holliday! Or put some duct tape over the lead singer’s mouth, leaving a hole just large enough for a kazoo!

How will Zombie Billie Holliday maintain the steady stream of yummy brains to which she has become accustomed?

Although my dislike for Modest Mouse is not really rooted in a lack of either musicianship or talent; at least as far as I’m willing to listen and think about it, they seem to possess both in the usual (i.e., unevenly distributed but otherwise ample) quantity expected of any successful garage band. I just feel that if people are going to rebel against their kindergarten music teachers (differentiating between singing and talking is fascist bullshit, yo) they should have a really excellent bass line for support.

I am so bored of guitar bands that sing little chants, also the 3 chord progressions and typical song form…

Okay, maybe because I’ve listened to MM since 2020, I’m not aware of it being “hipster music.” But I am getting towards 30…

All indie rock is hipster music, as far as I’m concerned. Although I suppose MM is getting just a touch too well-known…
