I am the Prince of the Air

So a bunch of LiveJournal/Xanga/Myspace kidz have been trying to use my pictures as background images. Which would be all well and good if they were savvy enough to get their own damn servers… but no.

I put in some image hotlinking protection several yonks ago, to deny such requests. Apparently, the 403 errors and utter lack of any visible background image was not enough of a clue - or else it wasn’t working as well as I thought. I am sufficiently obsessed with reading my own site logs that I can’t have them cluttered up with umpteen billion crap requests, so I threw together a little frowny face jpg and a couple of improved mod_rewrite rules.

This confused the shit out of some innocent teenagers. I almost feel kinda guilty about it… but do minions of Satan feel guilty when they go after Christian kids’ blogs? Of course not!

I would take that as a compliment from the prince of the air that he is angry his territorial thrones are being torn down and children of Light are establishing Godly communication centers in their place. )

Our war is never against flesh and blood.

I am only surprised that this does not happen more often on the journal places of Christians.

How just think how you could play with them, if you wanted to. You should admire your own restraint.

I don’t even mind the bandwidth, really - I typically use about 1-2 of my allotted 40 GB of monthly transfer. I have plenty to spare (though of course if I were to do something clever and get BoingBoinged I’d be irritated). The cruft in my server logs is what bothers me… makes it hard to pick out who’s actually looking at the old photoblog.
