Blackboard Art Insanity

Vitruvian Man, done in chalk, with an added anatomy lesson I’m not sure if this link is subscription-only or not, but the winners of this year’s Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge were announced in this week’s issue of Science.

My favorite is this da Vinci-inspired blackboard sketch illustrating various aspects of anatomy. Thanks to my 8th grade drafting class my students have a reasonably decent chance of getting fault block diagrams that look significantly unlike the Flying Spaghetti Monster, but there’s no way that my hastily scribbled scenes of stick figure destruction will ever compare. Just, wow.

The caption in the top left corner must intimidate the hell out of her students.
