The average joe knows so little about earth science that when the Discovery Channel calls something a "supervolcano" it sticks. Best not to invite the connection when you want to sell condos. What truly irks me about the Mammoth area is the visual nightmare when some ex-hippies decide to rip it all off and join you in a hot tub. Father time is usually not kind.
