Belated Brew Log (Again)
It’s been less than a year since I posted, that counts as victory, right?
Tonight I bottled the first batch of this year’s cider – because I ran out of gallon jugs and needed to empty one for (what is probably) the last batch of this year’s cider. The 2016 Early Scrumpy was about half little early crab apples, the red elongated ones that are common around here as ornamentals, but I don’t know the actual name of the variety. And half slightly underripe early variety apples (Discovery?) from a Buy Nothing neighbor who wanted them off her tree pretty early.
OG: 1.054 (@ 73ºF), pH 3.2
It’s quite sour, but fruity and good. It would probably be better with a bit of backsweetening, but I am too lazy to fuss with that.
Six more gallons of cider in the basement. Maybe I’ll log them here as I bottle them.
