For me, that’s actually about right. Seven hours isn’t quite enough – I do notice a difference when I get 8, particularly in the afternoon doldrums – but 7 to 7 1/2 is all I’m really sleepy enough to get on most nights. I am definitely built for napping.
Yes, seven hours isn’t enough. Especially since I can’t nap at work. I’d prefer a solid 9.5 hours at night.
This is why I always, always am complaining about being tired. Who in the world can get 9-10 hours of sleep every single night?
This is also why I need to be independently wealthy.
I got 7 hours of sleepy time too, except mine was 1:30 to 8:30 (which, if I could get my wife *and* my boss to agree to it, would work rather nicely, actually…)
So maybe that’s the answer to the question of evil? We need 8-10 hours of sleep, but we’re only programmed to be sleepy for 7, so no matter what we do we are doomed to be tired and cranky.
Personally, I think I’d do much better with a 25-26 hour day, so I have an extra hour or so to get tired before bed. Or maybe just more exercise…
